Absent For Reportedly Killing her Spouse While on Honeymoon, an Indian Wife was Arrested

A lady who went missing after her husband was brutally killed over their honeymoon is now in arrest, according to Indian police, after she turned herself in. The couple’s relatives launched a massive search for the bride after alleging that she had also been murdered or kidnapped.

Sonam Raghuvanshi, 25, is accused by police of hiring assassins to assassinate her husband Raja, 30, when they were visiting the small northeastern state of Meghalaya. Also, four males have been taken into custody. According to Devi Singh, Sonam’s father, “she is innocent and she cannot do this” to defend his daughter.

Prior to Sonam’s arrest, Raja’s brother Sachin Raghuvanshi told the BBC over the weekend that the newlyweds from Indore, in the central state of Madhya Pradesh, had thought Meghalaya had “stunning valleys” and had decided to go there for their honeymoon. On May 11, the pair was married in Indore in a ceremony that was approved by both of their families.

According to Vipin Raghuvanshi, Raja’s other brother, “their marriage was arranged four months ago and they were both happy and there had been no fights between the couple before or after marriage. On May 20, the pair departed for Meghalaya. But they vanished four days into their journey.
