India and the US are Expected to Finalise a deal on Vital Minerals

According to two Indian government officials, India and the US are expected to sign a preliminary agreement for cooperation on vital minerals this week as they work to strengthen commercial relations in spite of diplomatic setbacks.
During Indian Trade Minister Piyush Goyal’s visit to Washington, they are anticipated to sign an agreement to collaborate and partner in the field of vital minerals, according to the sources.

Weeks before the White House begins preparing for a leadership transition following the presidential election later this year, one of the sources states that Goyal is expected to visit the US this week to discuss strategies for strengthening overall bilateral trade ties.

Prior to this month, President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a one-on-one meeting in Delaware as part of the Quad grouping, which also consists of the leaders of Australia and Japan.

According to the first official, the first agreement on vital minerals will foster cooperation between Indian and American companies operating in the industry by assisting in developing supply chains and exchanging technical know-how. The US embassy and the federal trade ministry of India did not immediately respond to Reuters’ email seeking comment.
