The first Sharjah International Conference on AI & Linguistics (SICAL) will take place on the campus of American University Sharjah (AUS) on October 17–18, 2024, under the distinguished patronage and in the presence of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE, and Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of AUS.
This historic occasion, which is being held in collaboration with the Emirates Scholar Centre for Research and Studies, promises to delve into the revolutionary nexus between linguistics and artificial intelligence (AI).
Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi, the UAE’s Minister of Culture; Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Egypt’s Minister of Culture; Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh, the Kingdom of Jordan’s Minister of Culture; Dr. Ashraf El-Shihy, Egypt’s former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Ambassador Lorenzo Fanara, Italy’s Ambassador to the UAE; and Imed Zitouni, Director of Google Engineering, are among the esteemed speakers at SICAL. These thought leaders will facilitate discussions about how artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) are transforming linguistic studies and changing international communication.
