Trump Claims that if the US is not Treated “fairly,” He will “Absolutely” contemplate Leaving NATO

In an interview broadcast on Sunday, US President-elect Donald Trump stated that if countries failed to “pay their bills,” he would “absolutely” contemplate withdrawing from NATO.

Trump stated on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that unless members are “treating us fairly,” he would “absolutely” consider withdrawing the United States from the alliance. “They have to pay their bills,” he said.

Trump has long grumbled that the US, the most powerful NATO ally, is squandering military spending on the governments of Europe and Canada, members of the mutual defense group.

Most nations in the group are now meeting voluntary military spending targets, according to NATO and its member governments, partly as a result of pressure from Trum

p during his first term.

Following a weekend meeting with French and Ukrainian leaders in Paris, Trump announced his cease-fire proposal on social media, saying that Kyiv “would like to make a deal” to stop the conflict that has lasted more than 1,000 days.

While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that any agreement would need to open the path to a permanent peace, the Kremlin replied that it was amenable to talks. According to a post on his Truth Social site, Russia and Ukraine have both killed hundreds of thousands of men in wars that “should never have started.
