In Dubai, every holiday is celebrated differently, and Christmas is no exception. New customs will inevitably emerge in a city where cultures collide, and many ex-pats spend the holidays away from home. As a result, the church has evolved into a haven of harmony and camaraderie, particularly around the holidays.<\/p>\n
According to Marisa Kazwey, a 23-year-old from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, “December is the month of the year when God is normal and accepted for us Christians.”<\/p>\n
She adores that people who might not ordinarily attend services come together under the word of God and that expressing one’s beliefs is encouraged. Joy Reinhart Prabagar, a 27-year-old Sri Lankan, found solace, strengthened connections, and shared spiritual challenges with his church group. According to 23-year-old Pakistani Michelle Amar, “church is the only place where my mind actually shuts down, and I can pray and be calm.<\/p>\n
Even though she frequently sits next to strangers at St. Mary’s Church in Dubai, she feels that their shared love of Christmas and their beliefs bind them together. Another source of support for 22-year-old Tosin Akinyemi from the United Kingdom is her time at the Evangelical Christian Church of Dubai (ECCD).<\/p>\n
