Apple’s most recent attempt to expand its iPhone selection and demonstrate that its iconic 18-year-old product can still appeal to new markets is the iPhone 16e, which will go on sale on February 28. The iPhone, which generated $69.1 billion of the $124.3 billion in sales Apple announced for its first fiscal quarter of 2025, is the primary driver of the company’s over $4 trillion market capitalisation.<\/p>\n
For the quarter ending December 31, 2024, the iPhone SE only made up 5% of US iPhone sales, according to data from market research firm Consumer Intelligence Research Partners. According to Counterpoint Research, the iPhone SE accounted for just 1% of Apple’s iPhone sales worldwide last year. After only two generations, the 2020 model, the smaller and less costly iPhone Mini, was discontinued from the iPhone family.<\/p>\n
The iPhone 16e’s increased pricing makes one wonder if consumers on a tight budget would find it appealing. However, despite the price, the new low-cost smartphone may attract more customers, mostly because Apple appears to be adopting a successful approach from the iPhone XR, which was released about seven years ago.<\/p>\n
