This year’s designation of the UAE as the Year of Community serves as a potent reminder that genuine growth is determined by the strength of our shared ties rather than just economic achievement. Over the course of my work in community-driven projects and Corporate societal Responsibility (CSR), I have seen firsthand how organizations, companies, and individuals can effect significant societal change.<\/p>\n
In the United Arab Emirates, the ideas of philanthropy and social responsibility are not new. Our founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, ingrained them into our country’s DNA. His humanitarianism and generosity established the groundwork for a giving culture. We are still motivated by his conviction that a strong country is based on the welfare of its citizens.<\/p>\n
The Year of Community offers us all the chance to consider how we might contribute to creating a more compassionate, inclusive, and sustainable future. It is more than just a token gesture. Now is the moment to stop providing passive assistance and start actively improving society, whether that be through social welfare programs, research, or education.<\/p>\n
