In a speech advocating for deeper cross-sectoral links between the two nations, US Vice-President JD Vance stated that India and the US must effectively collaborate for a “prosperous and peaceful” 21st century.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a program in the western Indian city of Jaipur, Vance is now on a four-day trip to the country. However, I also think that the 21st century may be a really bleak period for mankind as a whole if we are unable to cooperate effectively,” he continued.<\/p>\n
A day after meeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the vice president made these comments. Both nations reported that they had made headway in their negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement, which Delhi believes will save it from increased tariffs.<\/p>\n
During President Donald Trump’s 90-day moratorium on increasing tariffs, which expires on July 9, several nations are scrambling to negotiate trade agreements with the US, including India.<\/p>\n
Before the announcement of the suspension, India was expected to be subject to 27% US duties. Since then, Washington and Delhi have been working to finalise trade talks as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
Vance said that the two nations had agreed on the terms of reference for the talks during his speech in Jaipur. Since it lays out a plan for a final agreement between our countries, this is an essential step in achieving President Trump and Prime Minister Modi’s agenda,” Vance stated.<\/p>\n
