The Duke and Duchess of Sussex argue that “enough is not being done to better shield kids from the risks of social media. In New York City, Prince Harry and Meghan are launching a memorial they claim is devoted to kids who have lost their lives as a result of the adverse effects of the internet.<\/p>\n
In New York, Prince Harry told BBC Breakfast, “We want to ensure that things are changed so that no more children are lost to social media. Life is better off social media,” he declared, adding that he was “grateful” that his and Meghan’s kids were too young to use the internet.<\/p>\n
Avoiding social media with your children is the simplest thing to say. At an Archwell Foundation event in New York, Prince Harry told reporters, “The sad truth is that kids who aren’t on social media typically get bullied at school because they can’t be part of the same conversation as everybody else.”<\/p>\n
A child whose life was lost “due to the harms of social media” is displayed on the screens of 50 smartphones that comprise the Lost Screen Memorial, an installation unveiled by Prince Harry and Meghan. It will be open twenty-four hours a day. Parents who are members of the Parents’ Network, established by the Archewell Foundation, shared photos of their children.<\/p>\n
