Elon Musk has criticised President Donald Trump’s hallmark tax and spending plan, calling it a “disgusting abomination” and stating that he “can’t stand” the legislation. The House of Representatives approved the plan in May and includes multi-trillion dollar tax benefits, increased defence expenditure, and increased borrowing capacity for the US government. In a Tuesday post on X, Musk stated, “Shame on those who voted for it.<\/p>\n
After 129 days working with his staff, Doge, to reduce expenditures, the tech tycoon unexpectedly departed the administration last week. He earlier referred to the idea as “disappointing,” but this is the first time he has publicly disagreed with Trump since leaving office.<\/p>\n
Despite Trump’s declaration that “he will, always, be with us, helping all the way,” the South African tech billionaire’s tenure in the Trump administration ended on May 31. In its current form, the bill, which Trump calls the “big beautiful bill”, is predicted to raise the budget deficit, or the gap between government spending and revenue, by around $600 billion (\u00a3444 billion) in the upcoming fiscal year.<\/p>\n
