That would be far more than the 24% duty imposed on Japan as part of Trump’s so-called “Liberation Day” on April 2, when he declared that all nations would be subject to high import taxes.<\/p>\n
Later, in order to give them time to negotiate with Washington, the tariffs on the majority of US trading partners, including Japan, were reduced to 10% for ninety days. Trump has stated that he has no intention of extending the halt, which is set to end on July 9.<\/p>\n

The majority of Japan’s exports to the US are now subject to a 10% charge, like those from many other nations. Additionally, Japanese automobiles and components are subject to a 25% import tax, while steel and aluminium are subject to a 50% duty.<\/p>\n
