Starbucks has instructed its corporate employees to go to work four days a week or face termination. Previously, employees were required to work three days a week, but starting in October, they will be expected to work Monday through Thursday.<\/p>\n
The order is the most recent in a string of initiatives by businesses to limit remote labour, which grew during the COVID-19 epidemic. Starbucks employees in the US and Canada who choose to disregard the new policy will get a one-time payment if they opt to quit.<\/p>\n
Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol, who joined the company less than a year ago, said the move will enable the company to execute its “best work” in the face of declining sales and other difficulties. He stated, “We understand not everyone will agree with this approach,” in a blog post for the corporation.<\/p>\n
We have carefully considered and listened. However, considering the magnitude of the turnaround that lies ahead and the fact that Starbucks is a company founded on human connection, we think this is the best course of action,” he stated. The corporation will need certain managers to transfer to Toronto or Seattle, where Starbucks is based, as part of the change.<\/p>\n
