Due to allegations that he sent a “bawdy” message to sexual offender Jeffrey Epstein, Donald Trump has sued Dow Jones, the parent company of the Wall Street Journal, and its owner Rupert Murdoch for $10 billion (\u00a37.5 billion). In an article claiming that a birthday message with Trump’s name was delivered to the late financier in 2003, prior to his sex crime charges, the US president alleges that the publication breached libel laws and slandered him.<\/p>\n
According to the publication, Trump sent Epstein a message on his 50th birthday, but he claimed it was “fake”. Following harsh criticism of the Trump administration’s handling of the case, the US Justice Department requested that a judge unseal documents pertaining to Epstein. “We have just filed a powerhouse lawsuit against everyone involved in publishing the false, malicious, defamatory, fake news ‘article’ in the useless ‘rag’ that is, The Wall Street Journal,” Trump said on social media.<\/p>\n
“I hope Rupert and his ‘friends’ are looking forward to the many hours of depositions and testimonies they will have to provide in this case.” He said that Murdoch, with whom Trump has had a tumultuous relationship for decades, and the newspaper were threatened with legal action if they published the piece.<\/p>\n
