In apparent reference to Trump’s “disappointment” with the Russian leader for failing to halt the war, Putin stated, “All disappointments arise from inflated expectations.<\/p>\n
He reiterated his calls for Ukrainian neutrality and acknowledgment of the seized territory, which Ukraine sees as a surrender, the day after one of the bloodiest Russian airstrikes on Kyiv. Speaking on Friday at the Valaam Monastery on an island in northwest Russia, Putin stated that he saw “negotiations positively” and that he anticipated talks with Ukraine to continue.<\/p>\n
