Authorities claim that Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old Utah native who is the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s shooting, had recently insulted the conservative influencer in a conversation and was residing with his family when the shooting occurred.\u00a0 According to officials on Friday, Robinson was taken into custody late Thursday after a family friend contacted the police.<\/p>\n
Investigators have not revealed a motive to the public. Governor of Utah Spencer Cox informed reporters that a family member who spoke to law police claimed that Robinson had recently brought up Kirk’s presence at Utah Valley University, where he was shot on Tuesday, during a recent get-together.<\/p>\n
Cox stated, “They discussed his opinions and the reasons they didn’t like him.” The family member also told investigators that Robinson had changed his political views in recent years.<\/p>\n
Reuters examined state databases and found that Robinson does not appear to have any criminal past. State voter records show that although he was registered to vote, he was not a poll worker. The institution verified to Reuters that he spent a semester at Utah State University in Logan in 2021. Why he left the college was not immediately apparent.<\/p>\n
