Japanese brewing giant Asahi has suffered a cyberattack that caused a \u201csystems failure,\u201d disrupting its shipping and customer service operations in Japan. The company confirmed that there has been no \u201cconfirmed leakage of personal information or customer data,\u201d and its European operations, including the UK, remain unaffected.<\/p>\n
As a result of the attack, Asahi has temporarily suspended order and shipment operations within Japan, as well as customer service activities. The company, which is Japan\u2019s largest brewer and owns global brands including Peroni, Pilsner Urquell, Grolsch, and UK-based Fullers, apologized to customers and business partners. Fullers produces London Pride, Cornish Orchards cider, and soft drinks, as well as Dark Star craft cask beers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are actively investigating the cause and working to restore operations; however, there is currently no estimated timeline for recovery,\u201d Asahi said in a statement. It emphasized that the system failure is limited to Japanese operations and does not impact manufacturing or supply in Europe.<\/p>\n
About half of Asahi Group Holdings\u2019 sales occur in Japan. The company had previously listed cyberattacks as a key medium- to short-term risk, noting that such incidents could disrupt operations, create cashflow challenges, and damage its brand. Measures to strengthen its security system have been part of its ongoing risk management strategy.<\/p>\n
