Fans of sports cars can celebrate once more! The UAE is now home to the brand-new 2024 Toyota GR86 coupe. The 86 (also known as the FT86) sportscar, introduced approximately 12 years ago, was replaced by the GR86. With a front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive, it maintains the traditional setup, but it also has a larger motor, fresh exterior design, and better road handling.<\/p>\n
The GR86 retains the “long hood and short rear deck” design, but it has new components such the LED headlights, front air dams, vents, and GR-specific MATRIX “G Mesh” grille. It also has a broader stance with a lower rear valance that resembles a diffuser. There are two options for wheel designs: an 18-inch matte variation and a 17-inch 5-twin-spoke model. There are seven exterior color options available.<\/p>\n
Under the hood lies the significant alteration. The previous model’s 2.0-liter, badly underpowered 4-pot engine is replaced by a new, 2.4-liter naturally aspirated, horizontally opposed 4-cylinder boxer engine. The power is increased from 197 horsepower to 235 PS at the maximum with these and other changes. torque increases from 205 to 250 Nm, enabling the 6-speed manual (MT) version to reach 100 km\/h in 6.3 seconds, compared to 6.9 seconds for the automated (AT) type. Handling is further enhanced by a lowered center of gravity and modified suspension (rear double-wishbone and front independent MacPherson struts).<\/p>\n
