At the university’s College of Health Sciences headquarters, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), provided an update on the status of scientific and research initiatives that support the university’s 2030 strategic plan.
He urged various institutions to embrace these research projects and turn them into commercial endeavors that benefit all stakeholders and advance scientific, educational, health, technical, and environmental endeavors. He also directed the necessity of turning these projects into ones that can directly benefit the community and various sectors.
The UoS president then gave a thorough presentation on one of the university’s innovative projects, which focuses on creating green hydrogen from seawater. This project is regarded as one of the key initiatives in the university’s 2030 strategy. It intends to create a pilot station to create green hydrogen using seawater as a primary source.
He was informed on the production plan, which began with constructing a pilot station to manufacture hydrogen with a production capacity of up to 200 kg of hydrogen per day, and he was exposed to the most well-known applications of green hydrogen, which heats buildings and runs turbines.
