250 tonnes of relief supplies, such as food, medication, and shelter equipment, were collected during the second week of the “UAE stands with Lebanon” national relief campaign. A second collection drive was held at the Exhibition Centre, Dubai Expo City, with 2,000 volunteers participating.
With the active participation of UAE agencies and NGOs, the initiative has raised approximately 1,000 tonnes to date.
As directed by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the campaign was initiated under the supervision of Deputy Chairman Sheikh Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with follow-up from Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In carrying on the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Founding Father, and the vision of the leadership led by Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organisations and Member of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, emphasised the UAE’s leading global humanitarian role in various countries in need.
