Over the years, one of the challenges has been the demand from various bosses to choose between being managerial or technical. Søren refuses to choose, explaining that he “has instead worked in companies where this dual role is appreciated and has created a lot of value.” Now, he is building a future organization based on his experience and values: trust, competency, transparency, equality, and fun.
It’ll be a partially remote company with a strong culture, with the hub centered around Copenhagen, but employees will work from wherever they want. “Why shouldn’t you be able to go to Bali to work for 3 months while you and your better half are on parental leave?” Søren suggested.
“The newest hire fresh out of university should be able to tell the CEO/CTO, ‘That’s not going to work because…’ and then we can have an honest discussion about that, and the final outcome will be better for it,” Søren stated. “We require, and only hire, excellent competent people. However, we also only want to work with nice people, and therefore the ‘no asshole policy’ also applies.”
