A prototype of the airborne taxi created by Joby Aviation has been unveiled at the Museum of the Future in collaboration with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The prototype, which is on display on the museum’s “Tomorrow, Today floor,” demonstrates Dubai’s dedication to the Dubai Self-Driving Strategy and its progressive vision for intelligent, sustainable mobility.
One of Dubai’s main initiatives to revolutionise transport is the aerial taxi program, which aims to have 25% of trips driven by self-driving cars by 2030. The project, which uses cutting-edge electric technology, intends to lower carbon emissions and promote global sustainability goals.
We are honoured to present the aerial taxi model at the Museum of the Future, which highlights Dubai’s ambition and forward-thinking approach to redefining mobility in this vibrant city,” stated Khaled Al Awadhi, Director of Transportation Systems at RTA’s Public Transport Agency. Dubai will be the first city in the world to introduce the aerial taxi project, which is expected to start in the first quarter of 2026 and signal the start of a revolutionary age in urban mobility.
In addition to adhering to the strictest safety and security regulations to guarantee the welfare of its passengers, the aerial taxi is notable for its vertical takeoff and landing capabilities.
