On July 31, several SpiceJet flights from Dubai to different locations in India were cancelled. The airline’s eleven daily flights from Dubai to India were affected.
The airline said in a statement on Thursday, August 1, that the interruption of services was caused by operational issues. SpiceJet rescheduled impacted passengers on other flights and offered hotel accommodations as needed to lessen the impact of the cancellation.
According to a SpiceJet representative, all scheduled flights from Dubai are now running as scheduled. The representative also sincerely apologized for any inconvenience this may have caused customers.
Indian media reports that passengers on at least six SpiceJet flights were prevented from boarding due to non-payment of airport fees. In its response, SpiceJet did not state how many passengers were impacted or the precise causes of the cancellations.
For more than a few years, the financially strapped airline has been delaying the payment of salaries, PF, and TDS. The management of SpiceJet has long discussed raising money. The airline’s situation may worsen in the next few days if it cannot raise a sizable sum of money fast.
