After reporting a manager who revealed a naked photo of his wife and told clients stories about his swinger lifestyle, a senior Google employee claims she was laid go. Victoria Woodall told an employment tribunal that after she reported the man who was fired, the corporation launched a campaign of retaliation against her.
According to documents viewed by the BBC in court, Google UK’s internal inquiry concluded that the manager had sexually harassed two female coworkers by touching them without their consent. The IT company claims that Woodall became “paranoid” after her disclosures and began to view routine business operations as “sinister,” but denies taking any revenge against her.
According to Woodall’s claim, her own employer punished her to a “relentless campaign of retaliation” after her complaint also named his close associates, who were later disciplined for failing to confront the manager’s actions after observing them.
Woodall’s accusations of a “boys’ club” attitude were also included in the claim, which stated that Google had been sponsoring a “chairman’s lunch” exclusively for men until December 2022.
According to Google, an internal review revealed no such culture, and the event was canceled since it was no longer in accordance with its policies. In the upcoming weeks, a ruling from the London Central Employment Tribunal is anticipated.
