According to the US military, an IS Gunman in Syria killed Three Americans

According to the US Central Command, an Islamic State shooter ambushed two US soldiers and a US civilian interpreter in Syria, killing them. The gunman was “engaged and killed” during the incident, according to officials, who also reported that three other military personnel were hurt.

On social media, US President Donald Trump declared that there would be “a very serious retaliation” and described it as “an ISIS attack” against the US and Syria. According to the US Central Command, the identity of those killed will be kept secret for a full day until their next of kin have been notified.

The US Central Command claimed in a post on X that the attack was “the result of an ambush by a lone ISIS gunman,” while a Pentagon official stated that preliminary analyses indicated the Islamic State organization was “likely” to be responsible.

The attacker was a member of the Syrian security force, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The gunman’s identity has not been made public, and no organization has taken credit for the assault.
