Donald Trump warned that Russia would face “severe consequences” if it failed to achieve a truce with Ukraine during a “constructive” meeting with the leaders of various European countries and the EU on Wednesday. In order to assist prevent a negative outcome for Ukraine from a meeting between Mr. Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin later this week, Europe is keen to present a unified front. Mr. Trump said on Truth Social that “they are great leaders who want to see a deal done.”
Later, Mr. Trump called the call “very good.” I’d give it a ten since it’s so welcoming. He went on to say that a trilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may follow an impending meeting between himself and Mr. Putin. Following the call, Mr. Zelenskyy claimed to have informed Mr. Trump that Mr. Putin was “bluffing.” “Putin is bluffing – he is trying to push forward along the whole front,” Mr. Zelenskyy stated during a joint news conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
He told reporters, “Putin is also bluffing by saying that the sanctions are ineffective and that he doesn’t care about them.” “The sanctions are actually having a negative impact on the Russian military economy and are highly effective.”
