Based on Apple’s most recent results, sales of iPhones have decreased in nearly every market worldwide. The tech behemoth reported that, with the exception of Europe, demand for its smartphones fell by more than 10% globally in the first three months of this year.
According to Apple, the company’s total revenue fell by 4% to $90.8 billion (£72.5 billion), marking the largest decrease in over a year. Though not as poor as anticipated, Apple’s stock price increased during New York after-hours trading.
The company claimed that supply disruptions related to Covid caused the figures to be inflated, as the same period the previous year saw exceptionally high sales. Noting impending product launches and investments in artificial intelligence (AI), it promised that sales would resume growth in the months to come.
Companies like Huawei, according to Gil Luria, senior software analyst at DA Davidson, are successful in China because “it is the homegrown brand”.
He said on the BBC’s Today program, “But in terms of features, functionality, and prestige, iPhone still has an advantage over any other handset.” Consequently, consumers in China will always purchase an the iPhone if given the option and means to do so.
