Indian media reports the death of veteran actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar, 87 years old and well-known for his patriotic films and significant contributions to Indian cinema. The actor died at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital early on Friday, April 4, at approximately 3.30 a.m., according to ANI. His passing was deeply regretted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who referred to him as an “icon of Indian cinema” whose films inspired a sense of patriotism.
PM Modi expressed his deep sorrow at the death of the renowned actor and filmmaker Shri Manoj Kumar Ji in a touching social media tribute. Known for his nationalistic fervour, evident in his films, he was a legendary figure in Indian cinema.
This is sad news for the entire country,” Manish R. Goswami, Manoj Jumar’s cousin, stated in an interview with ANI. Today is the last day of producing patriotic films. A period of genuine patriotism and Indianness is coming to an end.
Droupadi Murmu, the president of India, too paid respect to X. “The passing of the great actor and director Manoj Kumar Ji saddens me. His impact on Indian cinema is irrevocable. His patriotic films, which fostered pride in India’s contributions and values, earned him recognition during his lengthy and illustrious career.
