The relationship between two humanoid robots that reside in an apartment complex on the outskirts of Seoul may be the subject of Maybe Happy Ending. It has ten nominations going into the awards presentation on Sunday night.
South Koreans have now won the four most prestigious honours in American entertainment, including the Tonys. While Parasite won four Oscars in 2020, Squid Game won an Emmy in 2022. In 1993, soprano Sumi Jo won a Grammy.
American composer Will Aronson and South Korean lyricist Hue Park won the Tony Awards for outstanding original score and best book of a musical on Sunday.
The couple, who met while attending New York University, wrote the musical in both Korean and English before launching Maybe Happy Ending on Broadway in 2024.
According to one Threads post, “This is amazing! “The Broadway version reportedly became much more polished. The fact that Korea is emerging as a significant cultural force makes me really proud.
The message that reads, “This feels like a dream come true for the Korean Wave,”I’m as ecstatic as I was when Han Kang got the Nobel Prize, Squid Game won the Emmys, and Parasite won the Oscars.
