The California Highway Patrol nabbed the musician about 21:30 PT (05:30 GMT) on Wednesday. She was freed early Thursday morning and is set to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on May 4. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office in Southern California confirmed the reason for the singer’s arrest to CBS, the BBC’s US media partner.
According to a spokeswoman for Spears, the situation was unpleasant and unacceptable. Britney will take the necessary procedures to comply with the law, and hopefully this will be the first step in a long-overdue shift in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she may receive the assistance and care she requires during this difficult time.
