Though insurers have included certain significant features like dental, psychiatric, organ transplant, and dialysis in the new, improved packages, residents and businesses in Dubai will still have to pay up to 20% extra for their health insurance. According to industry leaders, these perks “make health insurance more comprehensive” for policyholders.
Following recent regulatory amendments requiring extra benefits and changes to the table of benefits in health insurance plans, as previously reported by Khaleej Times, these new prices and benefits went into effect on January 1, 2025.
Some insurers have raised their premiums by 10 to 15 percent, according to Avinash Babur, CEO of Insurancemarket.ae, which he said is probably a reflection of their 2024 claims experience. These modifications vary, although, throughout insurers and policies. While some insurers have kept their current rates, others have changed premiums, especially for health insurance. The claims history and marketing approach of specific insurers mostly determines these variances. One insurer has modified the costs for basic and enhanced basic policies, raising them by almost 20%.
Moin ur Rehman, executive director of Unitrust Insurance Broker, stated that about 75% of enterprises have revised their rates, resulting in a 20% increase in health insurance prices for both basic and enhanced policies.
