The “1 Billion Readiness” campaign was introduced by the Dubai Civil Defence under the sponsorship and in the presence of Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management. The ground-breaking global effort, the biggest of its kind in safety and fire hazard avoidance, is to educate and train 1 billion individuals globally on prevention methods between 2025 and 2027.
This innovative endeavour, spearheaded by the United Arab Emirates, is a global partnership of 34 nations and 18 significant firefighting organisations. It emphasises how the UAE is in the forefront of improving safety and security measures globally.
Through extensive awareness campaigns, this initiative will increase global awareness about fire prevention and the significance of safety procedures,” said Lieutenant General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi. Specialised digital platforms that are available globally in several languages will complement these efforts. After completing the course, participants will also receive official electronic certificates from the Dubai Civil Defence Readiness Program and the Global Wildfire Monitoring Centre.
Al Matrooshi added that in order to reach as many people as possible, the project would run massive awareness efforts at the local level that will target all facets of society, including people, government agencies, the commercial sector, and educational institutions.
