On an occasion that combined Japanese and Emirati customs, the UAE’s Expo 2025 Osaka pavilion celebrated greeting its two millionth guest on Monday. Since the most recent World’s Fair began on April 13, the pavilion inspired by palm trees, which honours the nation’s rich heritage and innovative vision for the future, has been a success with tourists from around the world.
Highlighting the pavilion’s important role in fostering cultural ties between the Middle East and the Far East, the UAE team celebrated the milestone accomplishment with a unique event modelled after the traditional Japanese festival of Tanabata.
According to mythology, two deities who the Milky Way separates may only reunite once a year on the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar. This reunion is celebrated at the Tanabata, or star festival.
Usually, wishes are put on bamboo branches to commemorate it. By employing palm fronds as a natural canvas on which individuals could express their aspirations, the UAE pavilion added an Emirati flavour to the celebrations.
