Donald Trump called Zohran Mamdani a “Liddle’ communist” on social media on Monday after the Democratic governor of New York endorsed the candidate for mayor of New York City. Self-declared socialist and 33-year-old state assemblyman from New York, Mamdani shocked both the Democratic Party establishment and American politics in June when he emerged victorious in the party’s mayoral primary.
Before the election on November 4th to choose the next mayor of the most populated city in America, he continues to lead the polls. The US president wrote, “New York Governor Kathy Hochul has endorsed the ‘Liddle’ Communist.
This is a really startling trend that is extremely detrimental to New York City. In what way is that possible? Washington will be keeping a tight eye on this matter. Providing affordable housing for low-income households and reducing the wealth gap between affluent and poor New Yorkers have been central to Mamdani’s campaign platform.
Hochul backed Mamdani on Sunday, rejecting Andrew Cuomo, a lengthy former governor and member of one of the most powerful political dynasties in New York. The incumbent, Eric Adams, is running as an independent. Hochul endorsed the governor, saying, “Affordability has always been my top priority and is the No. 1 concern I share with Mr. Mamdani.
