India advanced to the ICC ODI World Cup final on a damp Thursday night by executing one of the best chases in women’s cricket history. In a thrilling, nail-biting climax at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, they chased down a record 338 and won by five wickets with five balls remaining.
It was a devastating end to defending champions Australia’s 16-match unbeaten World Cup streak, which dates back to 2022. Australia has won this competition seven times and is unblemished in it .The titans of women’s cricket, India’s most formidable adversary, were ultimately defeated. Australia’s elimination means that the trophy will have a new name on it on Sunday.
India had to match Australia’s skill and passion and outperform their renowned tenacity in order to defeat them. They demonstrated courage, dedication, and steely nerves, excitingly shattering a psychological barrier. Jemimah Rodrigues was the Mumbai batter who spearheaded India’s incredible victory with her skill, self-belief, and tactical acumen.
During the run chase, her first World Cup century (127 not out) enabled India to overcome the obstacles and turns. Following the game, analysts declared it to be the greatest run chase in women’s cricket history and the greatest ODI century. Not many have disagreed.
