How The Brown University Shooting Case was Solved by a Reddit Tipster

The search for the guy suspected of opening fire at Brown University on December 13 abruptly gained momentum after six days of scouring with few significant discoveries. Claudio Neves Valente, 48, is suspected by police of killing two students in an engineering building classroom before going to the home of a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Brookline, Massachusetts.

It wasn’t until Thursday that reports indicated a significant breakthrough had been achieved, despite investigators searching through CCTV footage for days and making many requests for information, including offering a $50,000 (£37,500) prize.

An important person, identified only as “John” in a Providence police affidavit, has been praised by investigators as the provider of crucial information for locating the culprit. He blew this case right open,” stated Peter Neronha, the attorney general of Rhode Island. “When you crack it, you crack it.

When pictures of a new person of interest appeared on social media, John said on Reddit that he believed he recognized the man who is now known as Neves Valente. I’m taking this very seriously. The message said, “The police need to investigate a grey Nissan with Florida license plates, possibly a rental.
