In Australia, a British Man Drowns as his Surfboard Breaks in Severe Weather

In the Australian state of Victoria, a British man drowned after his surfboard broke during severe weather, and the companion who attempted to save him also perished. On Wednesday afternoon, police were dispatched to Frankston Beach, which is around 45 kilometers (28 miles) southeast of Melbourne, following reports that two men were having difficulties in the sea.

The two guys were winched back to shore by a police aircraft that arrived within fifteen minutes, but neither could be revived. After ingesting water, the cop who rescued the men received medical attention in the hospital before being allowed to go.

Since the police have not yet informed their relatives, neither man has been officially identified. For the coroner, a report will be written for each man. With wind gusts of up to 130 kilometres per hour across the state on Wednesday, police said they had warned the people to avoid the water.

The 36-year-old surfer had “minimal experience” and “it appears he may have only been learning to surf,” according to Detective Inspector Melissa Nixon. The temperatures yesterday were clearly not suitable for waterboarding, whether you’re experienced or not,” she stated.
