Together with the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Arab Emirates organized a humanitarian effort to transport 86 critically injured patients from the Gaza Strip—including children and cancer patients who require intensive care—as well as 124 of their family members from Ramon Airport in Israel to Abu Dhabi via the Kerem Shalom crossing in order to receive critical medical care. The flight was the second evacuation from the United Arab Emirates.
“This new initiative reflects the strong levels of cooperation between the UAE and the World Health Organization, and exemplifies the UAE’s steadfast and enduring commitment to support the brotherly Palestinians amidst the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip,” said Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organizations and Member of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.
Al Shamsi went on, “We are committed to working with the UN, international partners, and humanitarian organizations, and we will keep playing a significant and innovative role in delivering cutting-edge medical care to injured Palestinians and those with terminal illnesses. We are unwaveringly supporting efforts to use every resource at our disposal to alleviate this humanitarian situation.”
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s intention to treat 1,000 wounded children and 1,000 cancer patients in the nation’s hospitals is in line with this evacuation of Palestinians, which includes the wounded, injured, and cancer patients. 2,127 patients and their companions have been transported to the United Arab Emirates thus far.
