The Israeli military has demolished another high-rise building in Gaza City, marking the second tower destroyed within 48 hours as its offensive in the enclave intensifies. Defence Minister Israel Katz shared footage of the Sussi Tower collapsing on social media, writing: “We’re continuing. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) claimed Hamas was using the tower, though the group denied the allegation. Casualties from the strike have not yet been confirmed.
Ahead of the attack, Israel dropped leaflets urging residents to move to al-Mawasi, a designated “humanitarian zone” in the south. IDF spokesman Avichay Adraee called on civilians to “join the thousands who have already gone.” Israel has promised basic services there, but the UN has warned that the tent camps are overcrowded, unsafe, and that southern hospitals are already overstretched. Earlier this week, five children were killed while queuing for water in al-Mawasi, in what witnesses described as a drone strike an incident the IDF said it was reviewing.
Friday’s strike levelled the Mushtaha Tower in al-Rimal, where displaced families had been sheltering. Gaza’s civil defence accused Israel of pursuing “a policy of forced displacement.
