According to a statement sent by his office on Sunday, former US President Joe Biden, 82, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer that has spread to his bones. After seeing a doctor last week for symptoms related to his urinary system, Biden, who stepped down from government in January, received a diagnosis on Friday.
With a Gleason score of nine out of ten, the cancer is a more severe type of the illness. According to Cancer Research UK, this indicates that his disease is categorised as “high-grade” and that the cancer cells may spread swiftly. Biden and his family are reportedly reviewing treatment alternatives. His office stated that the malignancy was hormone-sensitive, so it was probably manageable.
“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” Biden’s office stated in a statement on Sunday.
He received a prostate cancer diagnosis on Friday, which was marked by metastases to the bone and a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5). While this reflects a more severe stage of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for efficient management.
As word leaked about his health, support for the former president came from both sides of the political spectrum. On the social networking site Truth Social, President Donald Trump expressed his and First Lady Melania Trump’s sadness over Joe Biden’s latest medical prognosis.
