The Beginning
We started the interview by asking, “Can you walk us through your professional journey and how it led to where you are today?”
Balaji Anbil shared, “I had the opportunity to work globally across Asia, the US, Europe, the Middle East, and across multiple sectors, including IT, investment banking, energy trading, professional services, public sector, and cybersecurity. The journey has been diverse, but the common thread has been a focus on using data and technology to solve complex problems.
In between, I did my exec-MBA from Warwick Business School. Before jumping onto the entrepreneurial bandwagon, I learned a few things while running similar-sized models at bigger businesses. All these collectively have helped me to build Tenacium DC and to focus on providing cutting-edge data capabilities and cybersecurity services.”

Challenging phases are a part of every career path. To learn how Balaji Anbil overcame the same, we asked, “Reflecting on your career, what have been some of the most significant challenges you’ve faced, and how did you overcome them?”
Balaji Anbil shared, “To give a size of magnitude of my career opportunities, before Tenacium, I led the Digital, Data & Cyber security aspects of a £1.2B Judicial reform program. However, this has been my biggest challenge till date. I bootstrapped and built Tenacium; part of this, I had to manage consulting work while simultaneously developing Tenacium – the fundamental reason for Tenacium is the JEDAI platform idea, that I strongly believe will transform the cybersecurity environment.”
“Balancing multiple projects was tough. But I overcame this by embracing our company ethos, trusting and empowering my team, and coaching them when needed, resulting in a successful, collaborative outcome.”

We further asked, “How do you balance long-term vision with short-term operational needs?”
“At Tenacium, we are taking a radical shift to cybersecurity. Our JEDAI Platform is our long-term focus, and it is a mission that our customers can achieve resilience as an outcome.
Having operated globally, I have been building a proprietary consulting methodology – JEEA (Just Enough Enterprise Architecture) which enables us to adapt quickly to customer needs while ensuring long-term goals, such as digital transformation, are met. This flexible yet focused approach has been internalized within our business, which allows us to cater to the immediate needs of our clients without losing sight of our broader vision.” Balaji replied.

Balaji Anbil shared, “We focus on three main service lines: Innovation Labs, Advisory & Consulting, and Professional Services, solely within the data and cybersecurity domains.
Our customer promise is that we provide tested advice fueled by our Innovation service line. Looking ahead, we’ll launch Experimentation as a Service in 2025, offering clients the chance to test strategies in our Innovation Labs. Under our Professional Services line, as ISO27001-2022 is gaining traction, we have built a comprehensive T5 cybersecurity framework that gives a unique approach to not only ISO compliance but a continuous assessment across multiple cyber frameworks.
AI is the new buzzword, but long before the ChatGPT sensation, I had spotted an opportunity as early as 2020 and started planning to build a platform that becomes a backbone for the industry to use AI safely and most importantly within their corporate perimeters. Currently, our JEEA consulting methodology empowers flexible, rapid client support. With recent expansion into India, we’re set to further grow into the Middle East and beyond.”

This global approach has allowed us to make informed decisions on product offerings and consulting advice.
The good thing about this global approach is the talent pool that comes with it. They also get to learn from other engagements which keeps them strongly engaged as well as pick up more ideas and fuel our innovation.”

Digital transformation is essentially Data transformation and securing that Data. By focusing on these transformations, we can support businesses in becoming more secure and adaptable.” He replied.

At Tenacium, we focus on helping our clients establish the foundations for AI-driven capabilities, rather than rushing into ChatGPT style adoption.
Our emphasis is on data quality because data, not AI alone, is the cornerstone of success. Businesses often face significant challenges in obtaining good quality, structured, and usable data, and this will be crucial to harnessing the full potential of AI to keep their competitive edge.”
