Dr Maureen Mandipaza founded Dravens Healthcare to provide compassionate, personalized care that goes beyond traditional standards. After losing her mother at a tender age, her topmost priority was to make a difference in other people’s lives through healthcare. Eventually, Dr. Maureen launched the company in my living room after seeing gaps in healthcare provision, particularly in how homecare services were managed.
Dr. Maureen Mandipaza shares, “My vision has always been to create a business model that prioritizes quality, dignity, and empowerment for both clients and employees building leaders through mentorship. Over the years, this vision expanded into empowering women through Momentors Academy, where we offer vocational training and entrepreneurship coaching, particularly in underserved communities in Zimbabwe. Our work is centered around creating sustainable, transformative opportunities that change lives across generations.”

“At Momentors Academy, we’re bridging the gap in education through digital learning platforms, expanding access to marginalized communities and remote students. Likewise, Dr. Maureen had one of the most defining moments during the launch of Momentors Academy in Zimbabwe. She says, “Seeing the immense need for vocational skills and entrepreneurship coaching, especially for women, made me realize the power of education in transforming lives.”
She further let us know that her journey was never easy, as she had limited resources, but it taught her that true empowerment comes from providing people with tools for self-sufficiency at the same time. “This has deeply shaped my philosophy: empowerment must be sustainable, transferable, and transformative, which has been the driving force behind all my ventures.” Dr. Maureen adds.

For instance, during the pandemic, we had to shift many of our operations online almost overnight, and adaptability has remained a core strength. Regular team feedback sessions, market analysis, and close monitoring of industry trends help us pivot swiftly when needed.” She adds.

We have decided to extend our reach through franchising in Southern Africa.” She adds.

Dr. Maureen Mandipaza shares with us that in the short term, she primarily focused on expanding Dravens Healthcare nationally through their franchise model, ensuring that the brand reaches more clients across the UK. She further adds, “For Momentors Academy, we’re working on securing additional resources and partnerships to scale our vocational training programs across Southern Africa. In the long term, I envision expanding our academy’s reach globally and launching more projects in Zimbabwe, creating employment and sustainable business opportunities for the community.”

It’s important to build a business with a solid foundation—whether that’s through education, mentorship, or partnerships. Also, don’t be afraid to adapt and innovate as the world around you changes. Most importantly, invest in people; your business is only as strong as the team and community that supports it. And remember, empowerment isn’t just about giving people opportunities; it’s about equipping them to create their own.”
