Can you explain what NEXOFAB™ stands for and summarise its core technology?
Jan Pee replied, “NEXOFAB™ transforms waste plastics into high-performance, lightweight structural components that include insulation and fully integrated utility systems. This revolutionary approach, called Next Generation Exo-Energetic Factory Automated Building™, reduces the time to construct a house from several months to just a single day.
Using advanced 3D-printed prefabrication, known as Nexo-technology™, we develop and produce Energetic Prefab Elements™ (EPEs): modular components that are sustainable, durable, reusable, and energy-efficient. Each element is a multifunctional system, integrating structural strength, insulation, smart energy solutions, and circular material flows.

What makes NEXOFAB™’s materials and processes uniquely sustainable?
Jan Pee replied, “NEXOFAB™ embodies circular economy principles at every step. We use both upcycled unsorted thermoplastic waste and recycled thermoplastics to produce lightweight composite materials. On top of that, CO₂ captured from emission sources is injected into our composites during printing. This makes our process CO₂- negative, our materials act as carbon sinks instead of carbon emitters.
Our proprietary methods, Nexo Continuous Fiber Processing™ and Simultaneous Gas Injection™, improve insulation, fire resistance, and mechanical performance. With zero-waste large-scale additive manufacturing, supported by Industry 4.0 practices such as AI-driven planning and robotic automation, we set a new benchmark for sustainable construction materials.”

How does NEXOFAB™ integrate energy generation and smart energy management into its products?
Jan Pee replied, “Every NEXOFAB™ element is also an energy system. Solar energy is captured directly through prefabricated elements. This energy is first converted into cooling and stored in phase-change materials (PCMs) that are embedded in 3D-printed basins within the elements and within the insulation itself, we call it NexoTHERMA.
Later, this stored thermal energy can be released to regulate indoor climates, ensuring energy-efficient and comfortable living.
AI-powered systems like nexoSMART™ and nexoGRID™ monitor and optimize real- time energy consumption while seamlessly integrating renewable energy into broader grids. A typical 160 m² NEXOFAB™ home generates up to 11 kWh/day, more than most households need. Surplus energy can be stored thermally in PCMs or delivered back to the grid, transforming buildings into climate-positive energy hubs.”

Pilot projects are underway worldwide, with larger deployments planned for schools, social housing, and disaster relief globally.

Scaling with Seed Funding and Tech Readiness
What is the current stage of NEXOFAB™’s development, and how are they funding growth?
Jan Pee replied, “Founded in 2024, NEXOFAB™ is a deep-tech startup transitioning from lab-proven concepts toward full-scale deployment, raising its technology readiness level from TRL 4 to TRL 8. In early 2025, we launched our first seed funding round of EUR 5.0 million.
These funds will accelerate organizational growth, protect intellectual property, secure regulatory approvals, advance hybrid prefab solutions, and build strong international partnerships. With this foundation, we are scaling towards global impact.”
