We recently had the privilege of interviewing Mane Velasco, Founder and CEO of Allelique Skincare. As the CEO of Allelique, Mane oversees global markets, driving the company’s holistic skincare mission across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Mane fosters a culture of innovation, mentoring her team to develop cutting-edge solutions addressing current and future skin issues.

Allelique’s Paris flagship store integrates epigenetics, exploring the root causes of skin challenges to inform product innovation, reflecting her commitment to enhancing overall well-being through skincare and lifestyle choices. In this interview, the CEO shares her career highlights, challenges in the journey, and the good she envisions to carry it forward.

The Beginning

Can you walk us through your professional journey and how it led to where you are today?

Mane Velasco shared, “As the CEO of Allelique Skincare, my professional journey has been deeply intertwined with my passion for helping individuals not just heal their skin, but also reclaim their confidence and emotional well-being. I started my career as an emergency room paramedic in the skin emergency unit, where I witnessed firsthand the struggles that patients face in their skin health. This critical experience taught me about the vulnerabilities of individuals dealing with skin emergencies and sparked my desire to make a more lasting impact in their lives.  

After my time in the ER, I opened my first spa, where I specialized in helping patients recover after surgery. I saw how the healing process could be both physical and

emotional, and I realized the profound connection between skin health and self-esteem. Many of my clients struggled not just with physical recovery but also with feelings of vulnerability and self-doubt, which further fueled my commitment to support them holistically.”

She added, “My journey took a pivotal turn when I moved to China to study traditional Chinese medicine. This experience was transformative and opened my eyes to new perspectives on health and healing. I learned to appreciate the balance between Western and Eastern medicine and how both can synergistically contribute to skin recovery and overall wellness.

At Allelique Skincare, we approach skin health holistically, addressing physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. Our tailored services and products empower individuals to transform their relationship with their skin, promoting resilience, self-acceptance, and overall wellness. I believe that when we heal our skin, we also heal our emotions and build resilience.

Therefore, my focus remains on guiding individuals to understand the signs their skin reveals and providing them with effective solutions that promote not only physical healing but also emotional well-being. Challenging phases are an inevitable part of every business. To learn how Mane Velasco overcame the same, “Reflecting on your career, what have been some of the most significant challenges you’ve faced, and how did you overcome them?”

Mane Velasco replied, “Reflecting on my career, one of the most significant challenges I’ve faced has been the need to balance my dedication to the growth of Allelique Skincare in Asia while simultaneously launching our new wellness café in Paris. This challenge has truly tested my strengths and ability to lead effectively across different cultures and markets.

As we launched our wellness café in Paris, I faced a leadership dilemma. With a team in Asia relying on my guidance, I was torn between two critical endeavors. I needed to balance my time and energy between mentoring teams in both locations, ensuring successful execution of our skincare and café visions.”

“Ultimately, this balancing act has not only strengthened my commitment to the brand but has also highlighted the resilience and dedication of my teams across continents.

The dual focus has enriched my perspective as a leader and has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the diverse markets we serve.

Today, I am proud to lead a brand that embodies this holistic approach, empowering our clients to embrace their beauty through wellness solutions derived from both traditional knowledge and modern science, and proud of my teams that share the same value vision with an encouraging passion as well.” Mane added.

Balancing Visions And Operations

We further asked, “How do you balance long-term vision with short-term operational needs?”

Mane Velasco  responded, “First, it’s essential to have a clear long-term vision that articulates where we want to take Allelique. This vision encompasses our commitment to holistic skincare solutions, innovative wellness services, and fostering emotional well-being through skin health.

Our vision drives us to not only create exceptional products but also to build a community that aligns with our values of sustainability and inclusivity. Additionally, I recognize that the beauty and wellness industries are dynamic, requiring us to remain flexible and responsive to new trends and consumer demands.  

For example, with our recent launch of Maison Allelique Paris, it was crucial to balance the immediate operational needs of opening the café and ensuring excellent customer experience while keeping our eye on our vision of creating a holistic lifestyle brand. This meant actively communicating with my teams to address any operational challenges while emphasizing the importance of our brand identity and values.”

Current Offerings At Allelique Skincare

To learn more about the services offered by Mane Velasco at her company, we asked, “Tell us more about your services and if you are planning to add something new in the future.”

Mane Velasco shared, “I’m thrilled to share more about our exciting project, Maison Allelique in Paris. Currently, we are in the soft opening phase, leading up to our official opening scheduled for September 28. In anticipation of this launch, we have designed engaging activities for the 26th and 27th will invite our community to experience what Maison Allelique has to offer.

At Maison Allelique, we are introducing a new concept of wellness café that goes beyond simply providing a relaxing space. While our guests can certainly unwind and enjoy our carefully curated menu of health-conscious beverages and snacks, we are also focused on empowering them to support their overall well-being actively. One of the standout features of our café is the inclusion of red light therapy. This innovative therapy has numerous benefits, including enhancing skin health, reducing inflammation, and promoting recovery.”

She further added, “Our services at Maison Allelique will encompass not only delicious, nutritious offerings but also the opportunity for patrons to incorporate red light therapy into their wellness routine. We envision this space as a sanctuary where individuals can nurture their bodies while enjoying a tranquil atmosphere.

We asked, “What methods do you use to analyze market trends, and how have these influenced your business decisions?”

Emphasizing the importance of an in-depth understanding of the market, Mane shared, “Given our multicultural presence, we pay special attention to cultural nuances and preferences in different markets. This includes understanding traditional beauty practices, health beliefs, and values that inform consumers’ choices in skincare and wellness. By ensuring our offerings resonate culturally, we enhance brand loyalty and customer satisfaction. 

We also utilize social media monitoring tools to keep our fingers on the pulse of what our consumers are saying about skincare and wellness trends. Social listening allows us to tap into real-time conversations, feedback, and sentiments related to our products and the broader market. This not only helps us identify emerging trends but also informs how we position ourselves in the market. 

Moreover, we invest in comprehensive market research that includes quantitative data analysis and qualitative consumer feedback. This involves conducting surveys, focus groups, and in-depth interviews to understand our customers’ needs and preferences. We also analyze sales data and e-commerce trends across different regions, allowing us to identify patterns in purchasing behavior. By understanding our diverse customer base across multiple cultures, we can tailor our products and services to meet their specific needs.”

Lastly, we ended the interview by asking, “How do you want your business to be remembered, and what steps are you taking to secure that legacy?”

I envision Allelique as a legacy brand that transcends traditional skincare and serves as an embodiment of a holistic philosophy of well-being and empowerment. Our vision extends beyond merely offering exceptional products; we aspire to create a movement that positively impacts the lives of individuals and communities alike.

A crucial part of this vision is our commitment to addressing the emotional attachment many individuals have to their skin problems. For too long, skin issues have been viewed solely as aesthetic concerns. However, we understand that they often carry emotional weight and psychological implications that can significantly affect a person’s self-esteem and overall mental health.
