A Visionary in Personal Branding and Business Empowerment

Entrepreneur Mirror: What inspired you to focus on helping business owners, entrepreneurs, and coaches build their personal brands?

Nousheen Mukhtar: As a business owner I have been connecting with other business owners, entrepreneurs and even solopreneurs to socialise. This allowed me to understand the fact that each of those business owners, entrepreneurs and coaches all work with a vision towards making their positive impact by offering different solutions to the world. Some of their challenges originate from limited visibility and difficulty of projecting the right messages to their audience. Understanding their struggles and knowing their challenges inspired me towards offering support by helping them establish their powerful personal brands. Personal branding is the key towards making one’s mark as it allows people to be known and revered for their unique strengths that help them accentuate their individuality yet make them relatable for the right persons. Thought leadership is a higher plane of personal branding. Thought leaders not only showcase their expertise but also actively contribute to their niche’s development and I have been working to take our clients through a journey where from emerging entrepreneurs they evolve and grow into well-known impact-making thought leaders.

Understanding Challenges to Create Lasting Impact

Entrepreneur Mirror: Can you share a success story where your branding strategy significantly impacted a client’s business growth?

Nousheen Mukhtar: We offer personal branding services through Nousheen Marketing Management, where I work closely with business owners to help them re-discover the strengths of their personal brand as leaders in their industry. I consult for communication strategy, content creation and establishing brand authority to ensure increased credibility and authority in a personal brand.

During my work I have felt that usually, businessmen normally do not know how to put their brand out there and share openly their experiences that make them unique, while women in business flow easily in establishing their personal brand because they come from a more empathetic leadership space. For instance, a business incorporation consulting company’s managing director had difficulty in discovering his own personal brand and making a branding strategy so that he could be known for his work.

I consulted and worked with my team to provide him with boutique personal branding services which helped him to appear in reputed popular business magazines, radio talk shows, podcasts, and news to share his knowledge as well as experiences. The strategy on his LinkedIn increased his audience three times from when we started working with him and established him as a thought leader. The uniquely customised communication strategy maximised his business growth by 42% within a year. Our other clients in business incorporation, taxation and auditing and business management services benefited greatly from creative communication strategies and impressive media appearances.

Moreover, many entrepreneurs and business owners could really be good at team management, daily operations and performing their work responsibilities but it might not occur to them to share their knowledge and experiences with an audience who could genuinely benefit from it and practically test similar strategies to grow. We worked with many entrepreneurs who found it challenging to get their voice out there and make a strong presence. We created impactful integrated communication strategies blending social media activities, traditional media presence strategies and appearance in industry specific conferences to help them make their mark and be heard by the right audience.

Key Elements of a Powerful Personal Brand

Entrepreneur Mirror: What are the key elements that you believe make a personal brand powerful and effective in attracting opportunities?

Nousheen Mukhtar: Building a strong personal brand is one of the best ways to grow your influence and build your business. The communication strategy for a bespoke personal brand should be able to not only raise fair awareness about a personal brand but establish its authority, growing the person into a strong thought leader who is much sought after.

A few elements are of crucial importance in this regard. A powerful personal brand should have three Cs: Credible, Consistent, and Clear. It should be authentic so that people can trust it and rely on it. It should be very consistent in all of its activities, in terms of its public activities, operations, policies; planning etc., everything the personal brand does should be aligned with its values, its mission and its claims. Moreover, there should not be any confusion reflecting in any of its communication as well as activities. It should have clarity about its value systems, its practices, operations and its goals.

A personal brand should also take care of its three as that includes audience, appearance and authority. Audience is the core as the audience is likely to become the clients and the buyers; not just that audience invests into amplifying a brand’s voice if the brand resonates with it and understands the audience needs. Therefore, a personal brand like any other brand out there should care more for its audience, should know the audience, should talk to the audience, should appeal to it and should take the audience with it on its journeys. The appearance of a personal brand matters. Modernity, relevance, aesthetic appeal and emotive appeal are crucial towards making a personal brand powerful. A personal brand must also strive to achieve and enhance its brand authority. It will help the brand in becoming more prominent in the crowd. It will also attract more buyers towards the brand by establishing credibility. Everybody wants the best!

Tailoring Branding Strategies to Industries and Personalities

Entrepreneur Mirror: How do you tailor your branding strategies to fit different industries and individual personalities?

Nousheen Mukhtar: Understanding the brand, recognizing its values and its mission helps in customising strategies. I focus on

Understand the client’s vision 2 Research the industry and the audience 3 Define the brand’s value proposition and personality 4 choose the appropriate brand elements and channels to ensure each business or client is able to benefit from the branding strategy.

I never use conventional or generic ways of presenting a brand to the public because that kills its individuality and do not allow the brand to make its mark.

Measuring Success in Personal Branding

Entrepreneur Mirror: How do you measure the success of a personal branding campaign?

Engagement rates, brand sentiment, and conversion rates are key metrics to track.

The depth of audience responses and their willingness to engage with the brand are two very accurate ways of understanding the success of a campaign.

Common Branding Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

Entrepreneur Mirror: What common mistakes do you see people make when trying to build their personal brand, and how can they avoid them?

Nousheen Mukhtar: Here are some of the mistakes people make during the branding process:

They forget their story or share it too often rather than building on it. I recommend sharing day to day progress to inspire the audience. Every time there is a positive development, sharing it with the audience builds a more powerful bond

Trying to do too many things to appeal to a larger segment of audience is a mistake as a very wide level of diversity kills the focus and reduces the impact of the brand.

Criticising other brands is a mistake. Do not point out what others are doing. Just focus on building a stronger bond with the audience.
