We recently had an interview with Yevheniy Vorobiov, the Founder and CEO at CASPIT, a prominent group of companies involved in the production of petrochemicals, energy, and fertilizers. Besides his strategic leadership skills, Yevheniy has been a catalyst for growth in many organizations and most notably helped steer CASPIT to the peak of the CIS hexane business and made it one of the key players in the petrochemical and fertilizer market of Ukraine.
Along with other successes, Yevheniy led the company to attain remarkable success over the years. In this insightful interview, Yevheniy speaks about the prospects of the energy and petrochemical industries, CASPIT’s understanding of sustainability, and the main reasons for the company’s achievements.
The Beginning Of Yevheniy’s Career Path
We started the interview by asking, “Can you tell us about your professional journey and what led you to your current role?”
Yevheniy Vorobiov shared, “I started my career as a junior researcher, then realized myself as a design engineer, later it led me to the management of environmental projects, and the most interesting thing began when in 2015, I started a group of companies that is increasing its activity every day and starting new directions.
Ideas are born all the time, and the main thing is a team that picks up and gets into all the processes and dives into the details with inspiration. And, as confirmation of my words, I would like to share information about us, but it is only a part of our activities. CASPIT is a group of companies specializing in the trade of petroleum products, the production and trade of fertilizers, the construction and operation of solar power plants, grain trade and logistics operation.”
CASPIT is a leading group of companies that has extensive experience in petrochemicals, energy, and fertilizers. The company has built and operated its own production and logistics infrastructure. In 2021 the company turned over an estimated UAH 10 billion, cementing its position in the market. CASPIT accounts for nearly 55% of the CIS hexane market and the volume of its LPG transshipment in Ukraine is 35000 tons per year and also has a plant for the production of 120000 mineral fertilizers in the Rivne region, which sells 250000 tons of fertilizers per year. Our group also owns five SPPs in the Kyiv, Odesa, and Rivne regions with a capacity of 6.5 MW. CASPIT’s areas of activity include trading, renewable energy, consulting financing and production.”
Standing Apart From The Competition
We were curious to learn how Yevheniy Vorobiov ensured to set his business apart from the competition. So, we asked, “What sets your business apart from competitors in the industry?”
Yevheniy Vorobiov responded, “Our focus is aimed at quality and our main goal is to simplify all processes so that everything works quickly and harmoniously. As an example, we sign exclusive contracts with suppliers for large volumes of goods supplied, we also create our fleet to deliver the goods in the agreed terms and not overpay a large number of unforeseen moments, we supply cogeneration units and provide light to entire areas, we have a large garden of organic fruits and vegetables, which we process in our factory.”
Adaptability Amidst Challenges
What have been some of the most significant hurdles you’ve encountered in your business, and how did you address them?
Yevheniy Vorobiov replied, “There are many challenges in our field. Particularly, during current war conditions, we had the risk of losing the ship due to mines and shelling.”
