Due to the active development of tourism-related relations between the two nations, tourists from the UAE are increasingly choosing to visit the capital of Russia.
According to Evgeny Kozlov, Chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee and First Deputy Head of the Office of the Mayor and the Government of Moscow, the city has seen a notable increase in the number of visitors from the GCC, mainly from the United Arab Emirates.
Over 42,000 UAE tourists visited Moscow in 2023 alone,” he continued. This is eight times higher than in 2022 and nearly twenty-five times higher than in 2017.” As of the beginning of February, there were 150 weekly flights from Moscow to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. Since UAE nationals are exempt from needing a visa to enter Russia, the city anticipates a significant increase in Emirati tourists this year.
He went on, “This year, a delegation participated in the ATM exhibition in Dubai in May, and a business mission visited the UAE in February. The Russian capital is taking part in high-profile exhibitions all over the world in an effort to fortify relations with other countries. With the number of visitors to both countries rising annually, “both Russia and the UAE are committed to strengthening partnerships in the mutual tourism sector.” According to Kozlov, one of the most popular travel destinations for Russian tourists and businesspeople is the United Arab Emirates. Russia has been sending more tourists to the United Arab Emirates recently, which is expected to continue shortly.
