Nvidia Signs Huge AI Contracts with IT Giants in Asia

The government of South Korea, along with Samsung, LG, and Hyundai, will receive approximately 260,000 of the most cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) chips from the US chip giant Nvidia.

South Korea can “now produce intelligence as a new export,” said to CEO Jensen Huang, since the companies will all use the AI chips in factories to create everything from robots and semiconductors to driverless cars. The value of the South Korean deals was not disclosed by Mr. Huang.

It concludes a hectic week for Nvidia, which on Thursday witnessed indications of a thaw in US-China trade relations that could allow it to ship more of its chips to China and on Wednesday became the first firm valued at $5 trillion.

Speaking at a CEO event in Gyeongju, South Korea, on the margins of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec), Mr. Huang noted that businesses would be able to use the chips to build “digital twins” with factories all over the world.

These agreements are a part of Nvidia’s most recent endeavor to further incorporate AI into its goods and services by expanding its AI infrastructure globally. Nvidia became the first firm ever to be valued at $5 trillion (£3.8 trillion) on Wednesday because to its international relationships.
