In response to the continued ground escalation, the United Arab Emirates initiated a nationwide assistance effort under the slogan “The UAE is with you, Lebanon” in accordance with the directions of His Highness UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Per the president’s directive, the UAE will give the brothers in Lebanon an urgent humanitarian aid package valued at $100 million.
The United Arab Emirates, in collaboration with the World Health Organisation, deployed an assistance plane on Friday carrying 40 tonnes of vital medical supplies. This aircraft, which took off from Dubai’s Al Maktoum Airport, was the first to land in Lebanon as part of this aid effort.
As an expression of the depth of fraternal relations between the two nations, particularly in these dire circumstances, and as a manifestation of the UAE’s humanitarian vision and the principles of historical brotherhood in providing aid in times of crisis, the plane’s dispatch falls within the framework of the UAE’s humanitarian efforts to support the brotherly Lebanese people.
“These efforts come within the framework of the wise leadership of the UAE to provide urgent humanitarian support around the world, and embody the commitment of the state, its leadership, and its people to the values of solidarity and cooperation and the constant endeavour to be at the forefront of humanitarian efforts,” emphasised Reem Bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation.
