Russia Provides Missiles to North Korea “in Exchange for Troops

A senior South Korean official stated on Friday that Russia has provided North Korea with air defense missile systems in return for the country sending troops to bolster Russia’s military efforts against Ukraine.

Separately, the non-profit research organization Open Source Centre said that Russia supplied Pyongyang with oil shipments.

According to a BBC article, it referenced satellite photos that showed over a dozen North Korean oil tankers had visited an oil terminal in Russian ports 43 times in the previous eight months.

According to the claim, which quoted British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, the oil was payment for the troops and weaponry Pyongyang had given to Moscow. Images also showed empty tanks departing nearly full after arrival.

The provision of advanced weaponry technologies by Russia that can improve North Korea’s nuclear-capable missiles against its adversaries is the most concerning development for South Korea and the United States. However, a few of experts believe that Russia is unlikely to do this during the early phases of the North’s troop deployment.
