The singer and actress, known for her role in “Wizards of Waverly Place,” expressed a growing inclination towards acting over music.
Selena Gomez, who previously hinted at retiring from music in 2021, discussed the dual demands of her music career and her TV show, which she enjoyed but found increasingly challenging. She candidly revealed her struggle with the pressures of being a pop star, including a decision to check into a mental institute and cancel a tour due to overwhelming workload.
Despite these challenges, Selena Gomez hinted at the possibility of releasing one more album, a project she’s been hinting at for some time. She admitted to leaning more towards acting when considering her future endeavors but acknowledged the possibility of continuing both paths.
Selena also reflected on her journey into singing, which started with her performing the theme song for her Disney Channel show. She described Disney as a ‘machine’ that helped shape her into a multi-talented performer, though she never initially planned to pursue a singing career.
In a previous interview with ELLE in September 2021, Selena had toned down her statements about retiring from music, emphasizing her ongoing passion for it and her desire to prove herself in the industry. She highlighted the personal nature of music compared to acting, where she gets to pour herself into her performances and songwriting.
